Bridal Boudoir at it’s Best at Blackbrook House with Silk Lingerie, French Lace Robe and Handmade Wedding Garters
We’re used to seeing a lot of wedding inspirational shoots in the industry – shoots designed to inspire you to try something different for your ceremony or your wedding breakfast. A huge amount of attention is focused on those parts of your wedding day, and so people can forget how much fun (and what a fabulous photo opportunity) getting ready on your wedding morning can be.
Either by yourself, or with a gaggle of bridesmaids, getting ready on the morning of your wedding can remind you of how truly supported you are by your closest friends, and can give you some much needed time to mentally prepare for what’s about to happen. With more and more documentary photography styles emerging on the scene, a bigger emphasis is undoubtedly being placed on ‘the morning of’, as the photographer seeks to capture the whole story. And to that end, we wanted to create some breathtaking inspiration to show you how much beauty lies in this personal, reflective time.
However, that’s not where these ‘getting ready’ shots start and end. More people than ever are arranging beautiful bridal boudoir shoots in advance of their nuptials, in order to gift the final photos to their husband or wife on their wedding day. Amidst a day that is filled with family, friends and loved ones, this is such a unique way to commemorate your wedding together in a unique and intimate way. Just between the two of you; something that isn’t shared with the masses. Unless, of course, you want it to be!
In order to nail a Bridal Boudoir photoshoot successfully you need a few things in advance. And confidence is certainly top of the list. This shoot is taking place for your partner who already knows how incredible you look and the results are destined to look better if you know it too.
The right outfit choice is also a hugely important consideration. Our lingerie, sold in our online shop, is made to be worn on an occasion like this. Our soft cup bra is the perfect luxe lingerie to wear under your wedding dress, and to bear your body in during your boudoir shoot. It matches our 100% soft silk satin briefs, in a pale ivory and pretty French lace, which can also double up as your something blue when you opt to have your married name or ‘just married’ embroidered onto the bottom.
But it’s the garter that really finishes this look off, and brings that classic subtle seduction which your partner will love. This shoot showcases a variety of our handmade wedding garters – the Grace, Hetty, Phyllis, Dorothea and Emily Nottingham Lace Garters, the Clara Blue Silk Garter, and the Martha Silk Tulle Garter. They are all such different styles, based on the classic design of the garter, and so there really is one to compliment everyone. All are available in our shop and come with the option of being personalised or having a silver sixpence sewn in for good luck.
Great accessories are essential to encapsulating this style to complete your look. Sash and Veil kindly provided this gorgeous lace bridal robe for our beautiful bride Cassie to wear. You will feel enveloped in luxury with the robe draped over your shoulders whilst hair and makeup fawn over you on your wedding morning. Speaking of hair and makeup, Kelly Jane Makeup-Artist created a smoky eye and nude lip combination for this shoot, and the result is romantic and sultry which we just love, and your partner will too. Pin-Up Curl fashioned these sophisticated hairstyles, which perfectly kept hair up off the neck so the Judith Brown Jewellery could be shown in all their glory. Becky Ryan Photography took these stunning photographs.
Finally, you need the ideal location. A boudoir, by its definition, is “a beautifully decorated room used in the past by a woman for sleeping, dressing, relaxing, and entertaining” and so finding a beautifully decorated room should be high on your agenda. Photographers are quite close to miracle workers at times, but they are definitely at their best when they have a stunning setting to work in. Our Boudoir shots were taken at Blackbrook House in Belper, which is a stunning wedding venue with a couple of glamorous getting-ready rooms provided. With high-windows, gilt mirrors, and chic chandeliers it is the perfect setting for a shoot as elegant as this.
We also provided some Extra Special details, from personalised hangers to delicate embroidered handkerchiefs, which are all gorgeous additions to a boudoir shoot or for use on your wedding morning. All of which are available through our online shop, along with the perfect lingerie and garters to take you from your wedding morning right through until your wedding night…
