A Bride Getting Ready on the Morning of her Wedding – Styled Shoot
A Bride Getting Ready on the Morning of her Wedding
A bride getting ready on the morning of her wedding are really important photos for every wedding album. Getting ready shoots are definitely some of the most underused in the wedding industry, even though there is so much beauty in those moments of stillness, whilst everyone prepares for the day ahead. In a day filled with affirmations, celebrations, congratulations it is so nice to see something which cuts through the noise and leaves us with something to reflect on.
Which is why it was a pleasure being involved in this shoot, captured by Claire Basiuk, with lots of other small businesses who hand make their items, and some our fellow And So To Wed suppliers too. We were lucky enough to shoot in the bridal suite, overlooking the river, at Tanfield House which is such a stunning wedding venue. The Bridal suite is the most gorgeous room for a bride getting ready for her wedding day. It offers couples exclusive use of the whole house for the duration of her wedding, including the beautiful riverside gardens.
The feel of the shoot is definitely natural elegance, with a colour palette comprising of white, creams and muted golds – alongside soft foliage, twisting around the bannister, and delicate lace. Everything perfectly balanced; nothing too over-the-top. The shoot fully reflects back the elements of nature that envelope this beautiful venue. A Claire Pettibone dress, provided by Lace & Co bridal, was chosen for its romantic feel, and the natural lace fabric that it expertly showcases. Sash and Veil provided beautiful veils, which were used alongside headpieces and fans from Bespoke Vintage Castle, to inject some sumptuous romance and flair. We love how the fan complements the plush textures used in the rest of the styling by Pamella Dunn.
Pamella’s styling is luxe glamour at its finest, and the cake table looked truly breathtaking laid with a 3-tiered ivory ensemble by Poppy Pickering. This was complemented by mini versions of the cake as well as snowy macarons that really captured the essence of the shoot.
The makeup was natural with a hint of sparkle, and Victoria Edwards, created a look that played on the natural beauty of the brides with a soft twinkle. Love On Location fashioned a stunning updo, full of soft romantic waves cascading down to the shoulders. These looks are perfectly achievable for your own wedding morning and will see you from the wedding morning to the wedding night, just like our garters and other bridal accessories. A photograph of the bride getting ready and having her makeup applied, is a must.
We provided both garters and embroidered handkerchiefs for this shoot, as they both play a huge part in the bride getting ready preparations. This is often the time at which the ‘something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue’, are brought out as the bride ensures she has all bases covered. Our garters come in a variety of styles, colours, and materials and are a great way to tick off your something new, and something blue. Lots of brides shy away from wearing something blue especially if it doesn’t match the rest of their colour scheme. However, a garter, hidden under your dress for only your partner to see, is the perfect way around this conundrum. We create all our garters from the finest fabrics – local Nottingham lace, traditional cotton and sumptuous silk, because we want you to feel extra special on your wedding day. And we love the elegance of a pretty, adorned garter sitting under an equally pretty and detailed dress.
A personalised embroidered handkerchief is the ideal gift to present your mum and bridesmaids with at this time, especially as when they see you all ready in your dress, the tears are bound to start flowing. It’s also a lovely idea for the bride herself to have a personalised handkerchief, embroidered with her initials and wedding date, to be able to pass on to her own daughter as the something old or borrowed when the time comes. We often hear about our hankies becoming family heirlooms and it’s such a special feeling to be able to be a part of weddings which span generations.
This shoot highlights all of the emotional and intimate moments that take place on a wedding morning; laying out your dress and accessories, a garter readily hanging on the bed post to be selected in due course, reading a letter from a loved one sending you their best wishes for the day and signing off with “I cannot wait to call you my wife”. Loveli designed the gorgeous stationery for the shoot, and the simple sophistication of it just shines through.
Weddings aren’t all about the toasts, the cheers and the dancing. There’s a huge amount of nerves, anticipation and emotion that takes place, but often this is left wanting in other inspirational photoshoots. A getting ready shoot is almost a more ‘real’ look at weddings these days and we love being a part of them. To find the perfect garter, handkerchiefs and other items for your wedding morning, take a look around our online shop or message us for a bespoke project. It would be a pleasure to be a part of your special day.
